Jeannie
Myers has explored a multitude of art forms since her earliest childhood
years in rural Wisconsin. From those first pencil sketches of
figures, faces, and local pastoral scenes, to later pastels and oils,
from wheel-thrown pots sold at craft fairs, to graphic arts and website
design -- and most recently her hand-crafted jewelry items -- Jeannie’s creative journey has evolved into her "Genie With
Design" business.
As a sculptor, Jeannie works with a variety of high-fire clays,
building mostly human-related forms – faces, masks, busts, torsos,
full figures, abstract and realistic – experimenting, inventing,
testing the limits of her media. Her inspiration is drawn from the
fertile ground of “real life,” those people living their agonies and
ecstasies, challenges, and achievements. Great artists with a
particular influence over the years are Auguste Rodin, Beniamino Bufano, and
Norman Rockwell.
Jeannie’s own pieces express a sensitivity and
strength in their execution, from the evocative “Worn Out,” the
heart-wrenching “Linda Agony,” the pensive “Muffy,” the joyful “Happy
Face,” the tender “Emoting Figure #1," and the moving “Wounded.”
Her work has been described as possessing an identifiable and unique
"hallmark."
Jeannie has displayed her sculpture in various
shows and exhibits in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Northern
California.
